QuantEcon co-founder John Stachurski delivered a short course on Advanced Computational Methods at Carnegie Mellon University from April 13-17, 2026.

The course covered techniques for solving economic models more efficiently using modern algorithms and computational tools, including:

  • high-performance Python with Numba and JAX
  • parallel computing, illustrated with Schelling’s segregation model
  • artificial neural networks and deep learning applications
  • dynamic programming, decision-making under uncertainty, and reinforcement learning
